Seulii Chatterji is a well-acclaimed Bharatanatyam and Folk (West Bengal) dance performer, choreographer and teacher from Kolkata. She is a disciple of Guru Smt. Thankamani Kutty.

  • Performance Career:

Having won the National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture (Govt. of India) in Bharatanatyam, Seulii went on to pursue a bright career in Bharatanatyam and Folk dance. She has also received the 1st rank at the ‘Youth Festival’ organized by the Govt. of West Bengal and soon became a Judge at the Block and District level.

Seulii individually and with her team has presented many beautiful dance-dramas like ‘Chandalika’, ‘Chitrangada’ and ‘Mayar Khela’ (written by Rabindranath Tagore), ‘Krishna Katha’, ‘Amar Vivekananda’, ‘Nilin’ (Folk dance of West Bengal) and the list goes on. Moreover, she has established a Government Registered classical dance institution named ‘Nrityangan Kalakendra’ at Kolkata and Howrah. 

  • Dance Festivals & Awards:

Seulii Chatterji has received a warm invitation to perform in various renowned dance festivals nationwide. These include ‘Jayadeva Samaraho’, ‘Indian Classical Dance Festival’ at Bhubaneswar, ‘Theatre Olympiad International Dance Festival’ in Cuttack, ‘Sathyabhama Dance Festival’, ‘International Women’s Day Award’ in Vizag, ‘Nivedana Dance Festival’ in Assam, ‘Tamralipta Dance Festival’ in West Bengal, ‘Pous Utsav 2020’ at Kolkata and more.

She has achieved many prestigious awards from these festivals like the ‘Satyavama Award’, ‘Kindled Spirit Award’, ‘Nrityabibhushan Award’, ‘Padmavati Rashtriya Puroskar’, etc. Besides nurturing the core discipline of Bharatanatyam and Folk dances, she aims to spread the highly valued culture and heritage of these Indian dance forms to her students as well as the newer generation of dance learners.
