The Nupuradhwani Fiesta!

The ‘Nupuradhwani’, 2018 Dance Festival commenced with the traditional lamp lighting by BR Vikram Kumar Editor-in-Chief of The Dance India Magazine, Ramya Verma Jagdish the Founder-Director of Nupura Fine Arts Academy and other guest artists. The festival was organised by Nupura Fine Arts Academy, which is serving in the field of classical dance for almost last 15 years.

The Students of Nupura performed on the title Song of ‘NUPURADHWANI’ in Mohiniyattam style, varnam in praise of Goddess Parvati which was beautifully performed by Bharatanatyam exponent Manjula Manoj. Dr Tina Tambe gave a brilliant kathak performance on Goddess Parvathi creating Ganapati. Ramya Verma presented the Varnam in Mohiniyattam.

She concluded her recital with famous kriti ‘Maithrim bhajatha’ for international friendship and world peace. ‘Nupura Kala Ratna’ title was honoured to Manjula and Tina by Vikram.

The later program was with Ganesh vandana by students of Nupura in Bharathanatya, Panthati (Ball game) dance (Mohiniyattam) Ganesh kouthvam, Nataraj Kouthvam, Alarippu, Mahadeva Shiva Shambho, Pushpanjali and concluded with Thillana. The efforts by Nupura Fine Arts Academy in promoting classical dances among youngsters were clearly evident in their performances.  The auditorium was filled with enthusiastic and encouraging audience including renowned dancer like Kashmira Trivedi and other dance exponents who also attended the festival. 

The melodious voice by Sivaprasad N N, Krishnan Narayanan on Mridangam, Satish Sheshadri on Violin and Parsmeshwaran on Edakka gave a wonderful orchestral support to the festival.
