Purandeswari Urges Central Government to Develop Kuchipudi Village

Kuchipudi Village to Be Developed as a Heritage and Cultural Hub:

Senior BJP leader Daggubati Purandeswari has called for the central government’s intervention in transforming Kuchipudi village into a prominent heritage and cultural centre. Despite its historical and artistic significance, the village has not received the necessary development and support, she stated. Purandeswari highlighted that Kuchipudi, known for its world-famous classical dance form, dates back to the 16th century and has been home to many scholars, artists, and craftsmen. However, the village lacks proper infrastructure, including roads, sanitation, drinking water, and educational facilities. She urged the government to take immediate steps to address these issues. To preserve and promote the legacy of Kuchipudi, she proposed the establishment of recording studios and research centres, which would help document and teach the dance form. Additionally, she suggested measures to support artisans engaged in crafting traditional jewellery and costumes for Kuchipudi performances. Furthermore, Purandeswari emphasised the need for tourism developments in the village. She suggested improving connectivity, providing essential amenities, and organising cultural events to attract visitors. She also called for government-backed schemes to support the artists and craftsmen financially. Given Kuchipudi’s historical and cultural importance, she urged the central government to take immediate action by recognising and developing the village as a heritage site. Her appeal focused on ensuring that the rich traditions of Kuchipudi are preserved and passed on to future generations while also enhancing the livelihood of local artists.
