The prestigious book launch of “World History”, authored by Dr. Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, was held at GITAM University, Visakhapatnam, in the presence of eminent dignitaries, including Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu. The event was a celebration of history, literature, and intellectual exchange, emphasizing the importance of historical awareness for future generations.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized the need for value-based literary works that can guide and educate future generations. She commended Dr. Venkateswara Rao for undertaking the challenging task of writing a comprehensive history book, highlighting that history is often recorded from the perspective of the victors, as noted by Aristotle.

“Writing a book—especially on history—is no easy task. Dr. Venkateswara Rao has condensed world history into just 350 pages, which is a testament to his scholarly expertise. His ability to incorporate personal experiences into historical narratives makes this book even more remarkable. Many historical accounts have been distorted over time, but this book presents history in its true essence.”

Encouraging Dr. Venkateswara Rao to continue his literary journey, she suggested that he should write a book on global events post-Donald Trump’s presidency, given the rapid geopolitical shifts in recent years.

Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, in his address, expressed admiration for Dr. Venkateswara Rao’s deep historical knowledge, admitting that he was unaware of the author’s keen interest in history.

“Writing world history in a simple and accessible manner is no small feat. History offers invaluable insights into human civilization, and this book is a significant contribution to that understanding. Similarly, documenting the life of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) would be an equally challenging task.”

Stressing the importance of authentic historical documentation, he remarked that British historians had distorted Indian history, omitting crucial aspects of India’s rich heritage and global contributions. He cited the numerical system, which originated in India but was later introduced to the West through the Arabs, as an example of India’s overlooked influence.

Reflecting on historical losses, he noted that the Partition of India led to the decline of renowned institutions like Takshashila. He urged the author to continue shedding light on lesser-known historical facts in future works.

In his concluding remarks, Venkaiah Naidu praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, particularly in navigating global uncertainties, and acknowledged Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s visionary approach to development.

He revealed an interesting anecdote: upon uploading his book to ChatGPT, it was compared to works by renowned historians like Jawaharlal Nehru and Arnold Toynbee, an acknowledgment that humbled him. He emphasized that his travels across the world helped shape the book’s perspectives, and he dedicated five pages to leaders who inspired nations, while also documenting historical figures who led to destruction.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu expressed profound admiration for Dr. Venkateswara Rao, both as a family member and as a scholar.

“Venkateswara Rao is my brother-in-law and an exceptional personality in our family. He deeply analyzes every subject. We both drew inspiration from Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) and carried out the responsibilities entrusted to us. While most people aspire to explore the world, he chose to document history. Writing a book requires deep research, and he has successfully crafted a concise yet insightful historical account.”

The Chief Minister also recalled Dr. Venkateswara Rao’s career as a five-time MLA, minister, and MP, highlighting his dedication to public service and intellectual pursuits. He expressed hope that this book would be included in libraries and educational institutions, serving as an essential resource for students and researchers.

Speaking about India’s economic progress, Chandrababu Naidu praised Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her contributions to India’s financial stability.

“Women often perform better than men in governance. Nirmala Sitharaman, coming from a modest background, rose through the ranks in BJP and became one of the most respected Finance Ministers. She has been instrumental in strengthening India’s economy, elevating it from 10th to 5th position globally, and is now working towards making it one of the top three economies in the world.”

He also acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance, crediting his leadership for India’s economic growth and stability. However, he emphasized that Andhra Pradesh still requires further financial support and strategic policies to achieve complete economic recovery.
